Carolyn + Brett

Carolyn and Brett are already married but they wanted some portraits of the two of them. We met up in Mukilteo which is a nice place with a weird name. Our original plan to shoot at the beach nearby was foiled by what I assume was the entire population of Mukilteo deciding it was a nice day to invade the beach.  So we quickly scouted some new locations and found some classics. Train tracks and a cute little white chapel. We even did some shooting in the smallest park I've ever been to. Apparently, it was the home of the oldest pear tree in Washington and was only big enough for the tree and a bench. They were so much fun to shoot and were troopers with the last minute changes. Jon and Lisa engagement shoot

Emily and I stalked Jon and Lisa around Discovery park to get some engagement photos. Jon and Lisa hired me to shoot their wedding in December and I'm looking forward to it. We had a lot of fun and I loved the area we were in. I'm definitely coming back to Discovery park more often. The trees were changing colors and we were able to catch some great light just before sunset. We saw at least two other groups doing engagement photos so I guess the words out on this spot. Check out the pictures after the break...

nate + katie

Nate and Katie got married. I have proof....

We really enjoyed shooting Nate and Katie's wedding in Seattle. The ceremony was at Bethany Community Church (which just so happens to be the church I go to) and the ceremony was at the Century Ballroom in Capitol Hill. This was my first wedding with my new second shooter/assistant/lover Emily. Nate and Katie are all around great people and a lot of fun too. Nate and I used to work together and I was friends with Katie in college so it was fun to be with old friends. It was one of my more challenging shoots I'll admit. The time constraints of a friday afternoon wedding don't leave much wiggle room. Also it was one of the hottest days of the summer and I tend to work up a good amount of heat running around shooting. So I was sweating buckets. We were doing most of the shooting at the worst possible time of the day with direct overhead sun in a cloudless sky. It was crazy bright out too, the kind of bright that burns your eyes if you don't have sunglasses on. Feel bad for me yet? Did I mention it was hot? :) Anyhew, I think we were able to get some good ones.

My very first post on my very first photo blog!

Well I've been on vacation for 10 days now and have another 8 to go before I go back to real life. I am hoping this blog can be a way to share photos that I've taken recently as a compliment to my website mattgebhart.com

Anyhew,
here's my first one.. (If I can figure out how to post pictures on this blog thingy...)

I don't really do a lot of HDR photography but this Barn in Grand Teton National Park just screamed to me to be HDRified. So I had to comply. Old dilapidated barn, the Grand Teets in the background (that's what I call the Tetons) How could I not? Hopefully I will post a few more photos from my adventures soon but I'm having too much fun.
